Empowering Skills Through Play

Race to your Rocket is an engaging card game to support language and communication skills in children.  Supports a structured sequence of interventions to develop language skills for SALT related targets on EHCPs.  Playing the game regularly also supports children's social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) related outcomes.

Using space-themed questions, children practise key communication skills of speaking and listening, improving focus on others during interactions and building rapport whilst discovering shared interests to help scaffold ongoing friendships.

Suitable for children with a reading age of 7+. There is no real upper age limit for players.  We have received excellent feedback from day care centres for adults who require supported living, who have used the game.

Great for use in all settings

Mainstream or alternative provision settings by ELSAs or TAs.

Therapy sessions delivered by SLTs and OTs, or as part of their suggested programmes for schools and other settings  to address children's EHCP targets.

After school clubs or youth and community groups/ day care centres as a small group activity or as an icebreaker activity when a new individual joins the group.

    Education Endowment Foundation Aligned

Children with strong social and emotional foundations show better behaviour, wellbeing, and academic progress, with Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) evidence linking high‑quality Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to long‑term success.

Race to Your Rocket supports 3 of the 5 key SEL areas defined by the EEF.

Regular play (at least once a week for 6 weeks) will develop:
